ROCKWALL – Jovan Hernandez rushed for 184 yards and three scores, and Ross Hudson passed for three touchdowns to lead undefeated Rockwall-Heath over Richardson Pearce in the District 10-4A opener for both schools at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium.
Hernandez scored on runs of 6, 1 and 1 yards for Heath (4-0, 1-0).
Hudson, who finished 12-for-16 for 161 yards with no interceptions, connected with Amaris Fields twice and Tyler McLoughlin once for scores.
Jonathan Cosby returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown for Pearce (1-3, 0-1), which scored all of its points in the second quarter.

GARLAND – Two interception returns were the difference as Rockwall-Heath held off Garland Lakeview at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.
Parker Wood’s 75-yard return with 2:17 left secured the win for Rockwall-Heath, SportsDay’s sixth-ranked Class 4A area team. Lakeview started the drive at Heath’s 43-yard line and drove to the 30, but 25-yard loss after a poor snap put Lakeview in a hole, leading to a desperation pass.
With 1:40 left in the second quarter, Heath had taken a 14-3 lead after a Jeffrey Irokwe’s 27-yard touchdown run, but Lakeview tried to answer. However, Mario Henderson returned an interception 32 yards to give Rockwall-Heath a 21-3 lead.

ROCKWALL – Wide receiver Tyler McLaughlin returned a blocked field goal 78 yards for a touchdown, and Javon Hernandez scored three times from inside the 3-yard line as Rockwall-Heath held off Garland Naaman-Forest, 35-28, at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium on Friday night.
Hernandez, who scored on runs of 1, 1, and 2 yards, set up the game-winning score with a 67-yard kickoff return after Forest had tied the score, 21-21, on Tank Mitchell’s 7-yard run with 7:25 left in the game.
Dorian Lawry scored on the next play following Hernandez’s return to put Heath up for good, 28-21.
Mitchell finished with three touchdowns and topped all rushers with 172 yards on 18 carries.
